Judging from all the Japanese who eat here, this place is the REAL thing. You can order by the skewer or order one of the combinations on the menu. Choose from skewers of chicken, beef, pork, gizzards, liver, heart, etc. which will be grilled to perfection. If you're not in the mood for grilled meat, there are plenty of other options-- soup noodles, soba, yakisoba, potato croquettes (delicious!) among others. Wash it down with a mug of the Japanese yogurt drink, Calpice, or with Japanese beer.
Lines are long, space is tight and the air is smoky, but the food is very inexpensive and truly outstanding. You'll feel like you're back in Japan again. It's as if the US stops as soon as you cross the threshold.

This place is NUTS for Japanese food. This is not a sushi spot but more of a Japanese bar food type place. Anything from authentic rice balls to grilled squid, to great specials that rotate daily. Open until 3 am or perhaps 4 on weekends, this is the place to be at for great Japanese food. Excellent prices, and pretty fast staff.

If you are expecting sushi/sashimi you are in the wrong place, but if you like yakitori this is yakitori heaven pretty much. its not bad, food is decent. I was duped into going here but I found the food plesantly surprising. worth a visit or two.

Love this place! This is another Late Night Place! I've been there so many times and I always find myself staring at the decor which they painstakingly tried to make look like an outdoor beer-garden/outdoor-grill, I don't know what. There are clouds on the ceiling and banners hung up all around the perimeter announcing their specials, fencing in their "yard". The decor is very cool, totally transporting and the food is delish.

Great food but really small place. Feels like you're sitting in someone's basement. No place to put your jackets or bags so go light. Good prices too!

This is a great place to kick back and have a beer. It has real japanese food and snacks, and the staff is almost always great. The wait is sometimes too much for me. Watch out for seating in the back, too ...

the food is good, though it disappointed me to find out that they did not have yakitori with the tare sauce, only salt. But good food, good cold beer, one of the few places that feels like it has been transferred straight from Shinjuku to New York.

One of my favorite restaurants. During the busy hours, you may have a longish wait but it's worth it! Be sure to order a set of Yakitori (skewers) because that's their specialty, and rightly so. They offer three different sets to choose from, as well as a wide selection of a la carte. But don't just limit yourself to the skewers. Try everything they offer from their menu because it is all fantastic.
They also have a wide selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non.
Although it's a bit crowded and tight, this is still a great place to bring a couple of friends to eat and drink!
